Cardiorespiratory Fitness Testing

Depending on the type of sub-maximal dynamic test administered, it will typically provide a reasonably accurate estimation of the maximal oxygen uptake (+/- 10-20%). To ensure the test reamins sub-maximal, you must ensure that the intensity does not exceed 85% of the heart rate reserve.

There are a variety of ways to test for Cardiorespiratory Fitness, below are some tests available:

Cardiorespiratory Fitness Testing
Ideally cardiorespiratory fitness is assessed by way of measuring the oxygen uptake during a maximal exercise test. However, that requires specialist laboratory equipment. Therefore a more appropiate method to use is an estimation of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max) from the heart response to a sub-maximal workout.
